NODE opens with 10,000, the first exhibition devoted to CryptoPunks, created by Matt Hall and John Watkinson (Larva Labs) in 2017. CryptoPunks is among the most influential works of digital art ever produced; it introduced a new paradigm for authorship and ownership online, inspired by the Ethereum blockchain standard, and marked a cultural shift in how identity, provenance, and value can exist in purely digital form. 10,000 presents CryptoPunks as a living artwork: a self-running system whose marketplace is foregrounded as an integral part of the art – every offer, bid, sale, and transfer is both an economic event and an aesthetic one.

Organization & Credits
10,000 is an artist-led exhibition by Matt Hall and John Watkinson curated by Amanda Schmitt.
The exhibition was developed within NODE's collaborative framework where artists lead and multidisciplinary teams build alongside them. Designers, engineers, fabricators, and technologists contributed across space, software, hardware, and systems to bring the work to life.
Special appreciation to Natalie Stone for leading production.
We recognize the global CryptoPunks community as an active part of the artwork itself.
